Evar Hussayni
Kurdish Multi-Disciplinary Artist
b. 1993

I am a multi-disciplinary artist and occasional curator. Currently I am undergoing an experimental phase in my practise which is grounded in the observing and understanding of the visibility of Kurdish women. My artistic practise is concerned with and explores the archival, politics of visibility, colonial violence and its relationship with the trajectories of Kurdish feminism and existence, including sub-themes such as memories, food and love, and how these aspects fit into feminist ideology and the narrative that Kurdish women are or have been part of. My research into archives, history (classical and contemporary), colonialism, mythology and rituals is realised in projects that explore the agency of Kurdish women as they navigate through their day to day lives and how this defies the colonial understandings of the Kurdish female identity.
